I spent 16 years as a journeyman refrigeration contractor, including five years running my own company. During that time, I saw a need for better operator logbooks: records that helped the people doing the work and gave managers a clearer picture of what was happening in their facilities.

That led me to build my first digital logbook product, which served refrigeration and ice arena facilities for four years before COVID shutdowns brought the business to an end.

I then moved into software engineering full time. Having taught myself to build that first product, I wanted to deepen my skills and learn how to build software at an enterprise level. Since then, I’ve worked across blockchain, AI and enterprise software, bringing that experience back to a problem I know firsthand.

ProperLog is the next chapter of that original vision. I’m building it to connect daily records with the knowledge operators need: what to check, why it matters and what to do when something needs attention. For managers, that work should become a clear, reviewable history of what happened and how their team responded.

The responsibility behind facility operations has stayed with me throughout my career. It’s what guides the product I’m building today.
